IRL:
Fitchick set to announce switch
by Virgil Ellipse
25th Aug 2011
Not a bad effort: our rogue pictures editor managed to find this 'Danica Patrick racecar single light switch cover', currently available on eBay. Plenty of them left, we should imagine.
Danica Fitchick
is set to announce her retirement from
EasyCar
and a move into the lighting and soft furnishings business, starting with a new light switch she is said to have designed.
Fitchick's future in America's premier single-seater series has been in doubt for some time but not many observers will claim to have seen this move coming.
The revolutionary light switch consists of a small activation button, protected by two soft pads. Massaging the area where the pads meet stimulates the button, resulting in the light coming on. Varying massage techniques result in different lighting, ranging from a soft glow to a blinding flash and even, once you've got the hang of it, to a violent pulsing followed by a total blackout.
Fitchick says that the idea came to her during a weekend away with her husband in a remote location, where there was literally nothing to do.
And if we wait long enough,
dotdotdotcomma
's rogue pictures editor might even find a suitable photo of Danica flicking a light switch with not very much on. He relishes a challenge.
